Hi Oppo. I have a (WIP) moped/motorcycle (it's a boardtrack racer replica), and I'm entertaining notions of importing it from the USA (Oregon) to Poland. I've looked for info on importation, but it seems like an obscure topic. Anyone have any knowledge on how much I'm looking at spending on getting it halfway across the world?
Engine is 6.5 HP/212cc, for what it's worth, weighs under 100 lbs, total length a little under 90 inches (about 60 with the wheels off).

Wait are you importing it to the states from Poland or importing it to Poland from the states?

Ok just making sure. You'll probably need to find out what the import laws for Poland are, but I'm pretty sure if you already own it in the states there wouldn't be much work other than arranging transport to Poland. If your in the states now you may be able to handle the drop off at the port yourself and handle the pickup in Poland as well.

OK, that seems to make sense. Poland is pretty lax about that kind of stuff (in practice, not theory) though maybe "sneaking it in" isn't the best approach :)

Airlines won't accept internal combustion engines in your luggage, either checked or carry on. They're about as serious about it as they are about carry on firearms, so don't think you can try it and go, "whoops, my bad" and get the engine back and/ or not be up shit creek.
I can't speak of your local importation and registration laws, but if the seller in Portland is willing to disassemble it and box up the parts so they meet UPS, FedEx, or DHL size and weight limits, you can do it that way. I did this with a YZ85 once (shipped it ahead of time, flew in, put it together, raced, boxed it back up, shipped it home, flew home; was cheaper than trailering it to the event), and have built a few bikes from scratch buying all the parts off eBay, so I know you can ship stuff as large as full size motorcycle frames no problem.

I'm not sure on how Poland handles illegally imported vehicles, but if they're anything like the States if they catch you they will seize it and crush it then post the pictures on the internet to make you feel bad.
